Great thing about this episode is they blew the whole VFX budget for the season and basically the entire music budget on Tainted Love and Toxic that it resulted in cheaper effects and a cheaper score for the rest of the season and they really didn’t have to do that.
Considering that the first season of classic Doctor Who blew its whole budget on the Daleks and then had to write a serial set entirely inside the tardis with the characters just acting weird, I’d say that New Who was just following an honoured tradition tbh
the best thing in the entire goddamn world is the fact that human beings have hands perfectly capable of giving amazing scritches and there are hundreds of animals out there who just love being scritched
